Joanne’s 20+ years in the financial industry reflect her expertise in leading the operations and financial management as CFO for MJ Settelen. Co-founding the company with her husband, Mark, Joanne is dedicated to building a company that embodies their moral beliefs and which exemplifies the close relationships they’ve built over the years with their clients and employees. Joanne holds a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and was accredited as an Asset Management Specialist through The American College. Prior to MJ Settelen, she filled financial roles for Smith Barney, Legg Mason Global Asset Management, and Tucker Anthony Investments. In her free time, Joanne enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children, gardening, and giving back to the community.
With over 25 years of experience, Mark began MJ Settelen with the goal of offering a different kind of construction experience to clients. He believes in senior-level involvement from preconstruction through completion, ensuring clients can feel confident working with MJ Settelen. He is passionate about what he does and it is evident in his client relationships, the team he has put together, and the work MJ Settelen has accomplished since its founding in 2005. He is proud that the company has been able to hold themselves accountable to their founding values. An avid fan of college football, Mark enjoys traveling with his family to watch games, spending time with his wife, Joanne, and their three children, playing golf, and staying involved in his church community.
In his role as Project Executive, Josh serves MJ Settelen by overseeing and coordinating the efforts of the entire project management team. With the implementation of processes, 15 years construction experience and company core values, he employs diligent and adaptable management efforts with clients, owners, and project team members. His meticulous attention to detail makes Josh an invaluable part of the MJ Settelen team. He enjoys attending Phillies games and spending time with his wife and three children.
Amy’s attention to detail, and analytical skills combined with a strong knowledge base of accounting functions, and procedures have guided her throughout her 8-year career in Accounting. As a member of the Construction Financial Management Association she brings experience, knowledge, and financial guidance to all of MJ Settelen Construction’s fiscal decisions. In addition to long-term planning, Amy leads the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department as the Controller. She has proven instrumental in the collaboration, and communication between departments, and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. In her free time, she enjoys visiting local parks with her husband, daughters Rose and Olivia, and their Border Collie.
Jamie provides a varied blend of expertise and experience. An engineering background enables her to engage with team members and potential clients in the pre-construction phase, while her responsive, detail-oriented and flexible approach to building long-term relationships helps smooth the transition from budgeting to bidding to building. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Jamie applies discipline, analytical skills and creative thinking to all Internal Operation tasks. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and spoiling her adopted Rottweiler Sage.
At MJ Settelen, we know that our strength lies in our team and leadership of our Project Managers. Brendan brings 9 years of construction experience to the team with an education background from Pennsylvania College of Technology in Building Sciences. In his role he applies attention to detail, teamwork and determination to provide quality service and products to our clients on the path to successful projects. When not in the office or on site, he spends his free time watching sports, completing carpentry projects and spending quality time with his family.
Marluis brings five years’ experience to the Assistant Project Manager position in multiple sectors including residential developments, tenant improvements, higher education, and public projects. Eighty percent of that time includes hands on experience in the field. Decisive and action orientated, he pursues strongly innovative ideas even in the face of obstacles. In his position Marluis has a comprehensive understanding of what it requires to run a project from start to finish, with a persistent pursuit of results. A continuing academic background in architecture, and the fast pace experience of on-site activities in the field, gives him a unique perspective of what all parties involved in a project expect from one another. In his personal time Marluis enjoys visiting parks and natural landscapes with his daughter and spouse.
Built on 13 years of industry experience in Philadelphia, Mike has a proven track record of successful, well-coordinated and executed projects using his solid work ethic, attention to detail, and creative thinking. As a Superintendent he manages the field construction process from material selection, general construction techniques, quality insurance, cost control and safety. Recently completed projects include Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel law office, Shady Grove Fertility Center, and Officeworks. Outside of work you can find Mike with his two children hiking in the mountains, fishing and hunting.
Specializing in the Academic and Healthcare sectors, Tom brings 18 years of experience to the MJ Settelen team and a focus on lean construction initiatives. In his role as Superintendent he manages all field activities on his job site and is the first line of communication with our clients. From mid-size interior fit outs to multi-million new construction facilities, he implements pull planning with consistent subcontractor input to reduce waste, reduce costs, and maximize efficiency.
Ricky has been with MJ Settelen since its founding. He has been in construction for over 28 years, originally starting in the field as a carpenter before quickly moving up to superintendent. As Superintendent with MJ Settelen, Rick has managed the construction of numerous projects in the Philadelphia area, including overseeing construction at Chef Eric Ripert’s 10 Arts Bistro and Lounge at the Ritz Carlton, Cushman & Wakefield’s Mid-Atlantic regional office, and the tenant fit out at Philadelphia Financial at One Liberty Place. Outside of work, Rick coaches youth and middle school wrestling and enjoys spending time with his family.
Rich has over thirty years of construction experience under his belt. His commitment to quality and ability to manage construction teams help Rich to build strong relationships with clients. As Superintendent for MJ Settelen, Rich has led construction teams for the renovations of McCormick Taylor, the visitor tour area for the United States Mint, and on the construction for Hay Group’s new global headquarters. Rich enjoys playing golf and spending time with his grandmother.
